Yaara exists so people can talk honestly with someone who listens. That only works when everyone feels safe. These Guidelines apply to every customer and Counsellor, on calls, in chat, in profiles and in gifts. They form part of the Terms of Service.
1. Be respectful
- Treat the person on the other side as you would in person. No insults, threats, humiliation or bullying.
- No hate speech or discrimination on the basis of religion, caste, gender, sexuality, disability, region, language or anything else.
- Respect a "no". If someone does not want to discuss a topic, drop it. If they want to end a call, let them.
2. No sexual content or solicitation
Yaara is not an adult service. Sexual conversation, requests for sexual content, nudity on video, and romantic or sexual solicitation are prohibited for customers and Counsellors alike, even if both people appear to agree. Violations lead to immediate termination.
3. Keep yourself and others safe
- Do not share your phone number, address, financial details or social-media handles, and do not ask for anyone else's. Conversations stay on Yaara.
- Do not ask for or offer payment outside the app. All calls are paid in coins, and Counsellors are paid through the platform only.
- Do not record calls or screenshots of chats without the other person's clear consent.
- Do not impersonate anyone, use a fake identity, or create more than one account.
- Do not use the Service for anything illegal, including fraud, blackmail or the sale of goods.
4. Listening, not treating
Counsellors on Yaara listen and support. They must not diagnose, prescribe, promise to cure, or give medical, psychiatric, legal or financial advice, regardless of their qualifications. If a customer describes a risk to their life or someone else's, the Counsellor must encourage them to contact emergency services (112) or Tele-MANAS (14416), and may end the call to do so. Customers should treat every conversation as companionship, not clinical care.
5. Adults only
You must be 18 or older. If you suspect the other person is a minor, end the call and report them.
6. Reporting and blocking
Tap Report or Block on any profile, call or chat. Blocking is immediate and mutual. Reports go to our moderation team, who may read the reported chat, review call metadata (never the call audio, which is not recorded), and contact both parties.
7. How we enforce these Guidelines
| Breach | Typical action |
|---|---|
| Rudeness, minor off-platform requests | Warning; repeat leads to suspension |
| Sexual content or solicitation, harassment, hate speech | Immediate permanent termination; Counsellor payouts withheld pending review |
| Fraud, payment abuse, impersonation, under-18 use | Permanent termination; may be reported to authorities |
| Recording without consent, threats, blackmail | Permanent termination and report to authorities |
We may suspend an account while we investigate. Decisions can be appealed through the Grievance Redressal process.
